The festival is a project of an Italian studio tad (design) in partnership with the Casoria Contemporary Art Museum (CAM). The first festival was held in January 2006 with about 190 entrants from various countries around the world.

Today poetry is unpopular: there is an intellectual taboo on the immediacy of emotional experience, on the plenty of lyric. Our Poet bashfully sparkles with his nakedness to restore the human compassion to the figure of the poet, to the figure of poetry… Inferred in a luminous column, simultaneously aggressive and fresh, as a high voltage discharge, three projections should expect a victim — the Day of Poetry.

Casoria Contemporary Art Museum is located in Casoria in the Province of Naples, Italy. In 2003 the comune approached Antonio Manfredi, a local artist and advocate of international contemporary art, as part of an initiative of local revitalization under the banner Una città per l’arte. The museum was founded in 2005 and has an exhibition space of 3,500 m2, largely devoted to its permanent collection of some thousand works by international artists.
